"Mini Prom"

Sydney was supposed to go to her first prom on March 28, 2020. Thanks to COVID prom was cancelled. Several of the kids from the group Sydney was planning on going with were Seniors. Some of those Senior parents were determined to make prom happen for their kids thus the "Mini Prom" idea was born. The date of Mini Prom was moved several times, but finally on July 11th this small group of kids got their prom. It wasn't a traditional prom of course, but the evening was a lot of fun and most importantly Sydney was able to wear her dress, which allowed me to get those coveted prom photos! The kids rode in a party bus for the evening. They took photos at a local park and then headed to an outdoor dinner at Tuscany. From there the kids went swimming and ended the evening with a late night breakfast. I'm thankful for the parents who made the evening happen and happy Sydney was able to join in on the fun. Here's to hoping that Sydney and friends get to experience the real deal prom in 2021!

This is Sydney's boyfriend, Mason. Don't worry guys... he is a good kid!

Red, White & Blue

A few family pics from 4th of July!

Sydney thinks it is hilarious to "be-boop" my dad in pictures.
They both have the same reaction every time and every time it's funny.

17.

The day after we returned home from the beach Sydney turned SEVENTEEN!!! Goodness, can y'all believe that? Her birthdays roll around much too quickly these days. Sydney had a low key celebration this year at the pool with her friends. I'm bracing myself for the next year. It's a big year! I'm hoping I can hold it together as she crosses all the lasts of high school off her list. My prayer is she has the most exciting and successful year, but that is creeps by super slow so I can soak up every moment with her.

Beach Bums

It's been a while since we took a family vacation. Life has gotten that busy. Last year we cancelled a trip to Disney because the girls and I were supposed to take a soccer trip to Italy over spring break 2020. Well...obviously we did not make it to Italy over spring break. Thanks COVID! At the time we had another trip holding for Disney over fall break; however, with everything going on we decided a trip to Disney wasn't a good idea for our family. Plus it looks like we will now have soccer tournaments and/or season games both weekends of fall break. Why am I explaining all this...because we decided before this uptick in COVID to go to the beach. We booked us a 5 day trip to Miramar Beach, FL that sandwiched between Bryan's volleyball and the kid's soccer schedule.

Of course as our trip grew closer the COVID numbers starting going up, specifically in Florida, but we decided to chance it and I am really glad we did. We needed a break and we needed time away together. It was so nice to be lazy beach bums! We arrived before the usual dinner rush so we went out to dinner the very first night. That was the ONLY night we went out to eat. All other nights we ordered food and ate at our condo. We had great weather and the water was perfect; clear and beautiful.

We ran into 2 of Jordyn's soccer team mates while they were out walking on the beach!
