Sydney's u16 team qualified for the Georgia State Cup, which was played over Memorial Day weekend. Thankfully they only had to play one game per day because it was crazy hot/humid that weekend. To top off the heat they played on turf, which makes things every hotter.
Game 1 verses Ambush was a 4 to 1 WIN on 5-25-19.
Bryan fetched quite a few balls that rolled down the road.
Game 2 verses AFC Lighting WIN 1 to 0 on 5-26-19.
Sydney calls her and Alek the "Left Side Duo".
They work very well together on the left wing.
Game 3 verses CFC Red Star LOSS 0 to 2 on 5-27-19 (Memorial Day).
Jordyn came out to support her sister. This is her with her coach, Alex.
The girls ended up winning the wild card spot, which put them into the Final Four played on June 1st. For the semi-final the girls were paired up against AFC Lightning Gold (not the same team they played in Game 1). Just so happens this team won NL (National League) this past season and they were the number 1 seed going in to the finals so the girls had their work cut out for them. Sadly we fell short in the final in a tough 0 to 1 loss, BUT our girls held their own and then some. I think we surprised a well seasoned AFC team. The game, especially the 2nd half was played in front of their goal and we had far more shots on goal than they did, but we just couldn't sink one. Our girls had a fantastic showing for their first state cup and I'm positive they are ready for their move up to NL in the fall.
Next up for these girls...tryouts for u17!
