So - August was a bit of a blur. Anyone else feel that way? The month was shoved full of big events: back to school, new school for Bryan, soccer practices back in full swing, pre-season soccer tournaments, several birthdays, clinic for Bryce and our little rainbow, Ellie was born. Oh yea - and Bryan was inducted into the Pope High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Crazy enough there were other events sprinkled in between everything listed. It has been nuts!
I already posted about a few of the events mentioned so if you haven't been keeping up with us go back a few posts to see pictures of those. This post will cover everything I have yet to share about.
First up. Soccer. So much soccer. I know...eye-rolls from y'all. It probably wouldn't seem like so much if we had only one kid playing, but there are 3 playing with 3 different schedules and usually playing in 3 different places and more times than not...they play at the same time. August was full of scrimmages and pre-season tournaments. The regular season starts the weekend after Labor Day.
My dad and other Veteran's in Cobb County were honored for their service in the Vietnam War. I wasn't able to make this event, but several of our family members were there to show support. Thanks to everyone who came out to show dad some love!
Babies! I am loving having two little babies to love on. Although James isn't so little anymore. You would never know he was a 3.5 lbs preemie! Ellie is doing well and growing and eating and sleeping and doing all the sweet, but exhausting things a newborn does.
Bryce had his 3rd clinic of the year. His weight and height did go up, but we are still 38% BMI so of course we are still pushing the weight gains. It's a never ending job it seems. Everything else on the CF front is looking good; especially his lung function. He blew his highest numbers at this clinic, which replaced his best numbers from May clinic. WAY TO GO BRYCE!! Our next clinic will be in November at a brand new location. We are excited to see the new facility. Before the next clinic we have to have a full fledged glucose test done (he has actually done this test numerous times in the past as a follow up to blood test results) and a bone density test completed. These tests will now become yearly events from here on out.
Towards the end of the month we celebrated Bryan's 43rd birthday. We had family over for a yummy dinner. It was a really great evening helping Bryan celebrate getting older and spending time with our favorite people.
Last but not least we rounded out the month with a special honor for Bryan. He was inducted into the Pope High School Athletic Hall of Fame. How amazing is that?!! As many of you know Bryan is a volleyball coach in addition to being a teacher. He started coaching at Pope High School while we were dating. He was the assistant coach for 3 years and the head coach for 15 years. During his time as head coach he helped grow the Pope volleyball program into a well known power house and he lead the girls to 3 state championships in a row - 2009, 2010 and 2011. In April of 2017 Bryan made the tough decision to step aside from coaching at Pope. This was a very difficult decision for him to make, but it was the right decision for our family. I don't think people realize how much time and commitment go into being a head coach of any sport. Another reason Bryan stepped down from coaching at Pope was to focus on growing his beach volleyball club Southern Select Sand or S3 for short. At any rate it was such an honor for him to be nominated and then voted in.
Way to go Coach on this well deserved honor!
He had to give a little speech and then he got to introduce one of his old players that was also inducted into the Hall of Fame. Pretty neat!
Bryan with Mary Hannah. She was a starter for Bryan all 4 years at Pope and then she went on to play in college at Auburn.
Bryan with Mary Hannah and Katie - both played at Pope for Bryan. Both went on to play in college! What's crazy is that Katie mentioned they were Freshman in HS when Bryce was born.
Time flies.
The 2018 Hall of Fame inductees.
Volleyball state champs - 2009, 2010 and 2011!
After the dinner/ceremony the inductees were announced before the football game.
Helloooo Coach Jones. Looking good with your new HOF ring!
Bling.
September is upon us and it is jammed pack too. Stay tuned for more!
